Picture an Alpine Village in the Swiss Alps, and you've an idea of the
scenery on the Wood River Trail as it runs from the north side of
Ketchum and Sun Valley, down to the little village of Bellevue. In the
20 miles it covers, the trail elevation ranges from 5850 feet in Ketchum,
to 5342 feet in Hailey, to 5000 feet at the southern end in Bellevue. As
it runs along the Big Wood River, it also passes through ranch land and
across three railroad bridges. South of Ketchum, the Wood River Trail
links up with the Sun Valley Trail at Elkhorn Road, to include another
10 miles of paved trails. Within close proximity, there is just about every
kind of recreation imaginable, including rafting, parasailing, mountain
biking, fly fishing, and horseback riding.
