The Rock Island State Trail goes between Toulon and Alta, and
is
a little
over 26 miles long. There is also a trail extension of 2½
miles
from Alta
into Peoria. The trail crosses areas of prairie grass
and
some portions run
through shaded woodlands. The surface is
packed crushed limestone, and
is suitable for most bikes. The
park
headquarters are located in Wyoming
at the restored depot.
This
Rock Island Trail was voted as one of the best in Illinois.
