The Prairie Spirit Trail is a relatively new trail. The section from
Richmond to Welda opened in 1996, and from Ottawa to Richmond opened in 1998. The section from Welda to Iola is still waiting for
construction funds. When completed, it will total 50 miles. At the present it is 33 miles. The trail is 10 feet wide and goes through
prairies and woodlands.
