The New River Trail is 57 miles, and runs from Pulaski to
Galax, and also has a section that goes to Fries. The trail
parallels the New River for 39 of its miles. The trail also fol-
lows Chestnut Creek for 12 miles and Claytor Lake for 1.5
miles. The scenery varies from steep rock cliffs to pasture land.
There are 2 tunnels and about 30 bridges.
