The Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway parallels the Mohawk River
from Rotterdam Junction to Cohoes where the Mohawk and
Hudson Rivers converge. Many sections of the trailway were
built on the old Erie Canal towpath. The trail is continuous
except where it crosses the Mohawk River between Scotia
and Schenectady and under Route 87. The trail is 25 miles
long and the surface is all asphalt except for a 1 mile segment.
Many of America's earliest mills, dams, locks, bridges, and
mansions were built along the route. |
