The Heritage Trail could be Iowa's most scenic trail. Its 26 miles wind through high bluffs, many river overlooks, and rugged woodlands. Even though the Heritage Trail  runs through some picturesque countryside, the steepest grade never rises above 1 percent. The northeast end of the trail will eventually go all the way into . There are many attractions to see on both ends of the Heritage Trail.
