The Decker's Creek Trail was built in 1999, and follows Decker's
Creek from downtown Morgantown to Reedsville. The trail is 18
miles long, and there is a several hundred foot increase in elevation
on the way to Reedsville. In the Morgantown City limits, the trail is
asphalt, and the rest is crushed limestone. Further along the trail,
the
landscape is very scenic due to the many hardwood trees and
rocky outcroppings. Decker's Creek is very popular with kayakers,
and also
has some Class VI rapids. Rock climbing is also very
popular in the
region.
The Mon River Trail follows along the Monongahela River from
the Pennsylvania border to 3 miles past the Marion County line.
Although it is one continuous trail, the Mon River Trail North is
separated from Mon River Trail South by the Caperton Trail, a
paved portion of the trail within the Morgantown City limits. The
Caperton Trail is 8 paved miles which is great for rollerblading.
