The Chief Ladiga Trail runs from Woodland Park, on the north side of
Anniston, to the Alabama/Alabama State Line, where it connects with the Silver Comet Trail.
The trail is approximately 31.5 miles long..
The Cleburne County portion is the only part of the trail where horses
are allowed.
This section also crosses the famous 60 mile long Pinhoti Hiking
Trail. The scenery is great along the Chief Ladiga
Trail, as it passes
through forests, wetlands, and has the Talladega
Mountains as a
backdrop.
On September 27th, 2008 the "Chief" was connected to
Alabama's Silver Comet Trail completing what is now
one of the longest paved pathways in
America. Together the trails are 94 miles long with plans
for future extensions and spurs.
