The Chief Ladiga Trail runs from Woodland Park, on the north
side of Anniston, to the Georgia State Line, where it will event-
ually connect with the Silver Comet Trail. Currently, two short
sections in Calhoun County, and the entire Cleburne County sec-
tion have not been opened. Approximately 22 miles, running from
the north side of Anniston to east of Piedmont, is paved and open.
The Cleburne County portion will probably be ready in 2002,
and will be the only part of the trail where horses will be allowed.
This section also crosses the famous 60 mile long Pinhoti Hiking
Trail. The scenery is the best attraction along the Chief Ladiga
Trail, as it passes through forests, wetlands, and has the Talladega
Mountains as a backdrop.
