The 52 mile Cedar Valley Nature Trail connects Evansdale with
Hiawatha, and runs through several small towns in between. Hiking,
biking, cross-country skiing, and inline skating are allowed.
Snowmobiles and/or other motorized vehicles are not allowed on
any
part of the trail. The trail is surfaced with asphalt from Evansdale
to
McFarlane Park, which is just 2½ south of La Porte City. From
the
Park to Hiawatha, the trail is surfaced with compacted limestone.
A
campground is located in McFarlane Park, which is right next to
the trail. The Cedar Valley Nature Trail runs through wetlands,
forested land, and farmland.
