The Cape Cod Rail Trail is by far the most popular, and at 25 miles, the longest trail on the cape. The trail runs through the center of the cape from Wellfleet down to Dennis. Pine woods, salt marshes, cranberry bogs and freshwater ponds are some of the terrains encountered on the trail. Nickerson State Park, which is close to the half-way point, provides camping, hiking and biking trails, swimming, fishing and boating. Since this is a major tourist destination, there are numerous theaters, beaches, museums, and charter boats to provide entertainment. A few days on Cape Cod and a trip down the Cape Cod Rail Trail is a combination that's hard to beat.
