The Ahnapee State Trail was extended in 1997, and so, now
goes from Sturgeon Bay to 2½ mi south of Casco. The older
northern section from Algoma to
Sturgeon Bay was also
resurfaced. There also was a new rest stop built in Forestville
which is the halfway point. The trail takes
you from Lake
Michigan's rocky shore down
through farm fields and
orchards. Sturgeon Bay and Algoma are the only towns with
any attractions to see. The total trail
length of the Ahnapee
Trail is almost 29 miles.
